Profile

Jason has a broad civil practice with an emphasis on traditional chancery and matters involving issues of conflict of laws and jurisdiction. He has appeared at all levels of Court, including the Court of Final Appeal and the Court of Appeal. His notable cases include Cheung Lai Mui v Cheung Wai Shing (2021) 24 HKCFAR 116 (proprietary estoppel and equitable accounting between co-owners) and Fong Chak Kwan v Employees Compensation Assistance Fund Board (2022) 25 HKCFAR 135 (proper interpretation of tort jurisdictional gateway).

Jason regularly handles property and trust-related disputes, including adverse possession, disputes over beneficial ownership, lease and tenancy disputes, and building management. He also has experience in handling cases involving bankruptcy and corporate insolvency, civil fraud, company and shareholders’ disputes, construction, disciplinary matters, general commercial disputes, and probate and administration.

Alongside his civil practice, Jason also has wide exposure in public law and is experienced in conducting judicial reviews and cases involving constitutional law issues. Jason also accepts instructions to conduct legal aid appeals.
